Three weeks of birding in the jungles of South India

When my wife had finished her study tour of early Buddhist sites at the end of January, I joined her in Bangalore for a three weeks birding tour through South India. We slowly traveled from Bangalore via Mysore, Mudumalai, Chinnar, Munnar, Periyar to the Thattekad Bird Reserve bevor we spent some time relaxing on the Kerala Backwaters and in Aleppi. Fortunately, we made it back home about two weeks before the lock down took the world in its iron grip.
The pictures are in chronological order.
As always, landscapes and plants are by courtesy of my wife.

You will find no woodpeckers in this chapter, although we have seen plenty. There is a whole separate chapter on woodpeckers, where I have also put the pictures of woodpeckers we brought home from our trip in India.
